A historic Kefalonian home with a story to tell
Welcome to Villa Demetra 1768, a beautifully restored traditional stone house in the peaceful village of Markantonata, just a few minutes from Fiskardo in northern Kefalonia.
Originally built in 1768, the villa has been carefully restored with respect for its history and traditional Kefalonian character, while offering the comfort and facilities needed for a relaxing modern holiday.
What makes Villa Demetra truly special is the feeling of staying somewhere authentic. Original elements of the old property have been preserved, including the traditional stone oven inside the kitchen, as well as the historic wine press and grape-pressing area in the garden — reminders of the house’s long connection with local life and tradition.
The villa can accommodate up to five guests and offers comfortable sleeping arrangements with a queen-size bed, two single beds and an additional sofa bed.
Outside, the property is surrounded by two courtyards, a garden and a private swimming pool. Mature trees and centuries-old olive trees provide natural shade, while one of the outdoor dining areas sits beneath an old fig tree — a beautiful setting for breakfast, lunch or a relaxed evening meal.
The location offers the best of both worlds: peaceful village life surrounded by greenery, while the restaurants, cafés, shops and atmosphere of Fiskardo are only around 3 km away. Antipata is approximately 500 metres away, where guests can find a grocery shop, restaurant and café.
Villa Demetra 1768 is not simply a holiday villa. It is a place with history, personality and a genuine sense of Kefalonia — ideal for travellers who want privacy, authenticity and a memorable stay close to Fiskardo.
